National weather forecaster Met Éireann has issued a new weather warning today.

The Status Yellow warning, which applies to all of Ireland, was released at 11am this morning.

“Wintry showers will continue throughout the warning period across Ulster, leading to accumulations of snow on hills and mountains,” the warning states.

“Wintry showers will become widespread in Connacht and West Munster Friday evening, extending eastwards in to Leinster Friday night.”

The alert is in effect from noon today until 3pm tomorrow.
