McGuinness: Positive EU attitude change towards Ireland

The Fine Gael MEP Mairead McGuinness said that she believes there has been a positive change of attitude towards Ireland in the EU.

She's hoping that change will lead to a deal on Ireland's bank debts.

Ms McGuinness was speaking at the European Parliament in Brussels today.

"There is a sense in which we realise we have come through a horrendous dark period, politically, fiscally, economically" she said.

"...We know that we need to change a number of things, not only the Irish debt situation, in order to refocus on EU solidarity because for Ireland to recover and grow we need Europe to do the same, so we are all in this together".
