Martin: Govt 'creating mirage' around State appointments

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Opposition leader Micheál Martin have clashed over appointments to State boards.

Mr Martin said the Government is "just creating the mirage" that the Oireachtas will have a greater role in selecting members of boards.

The Coalition is to allow vetting of chairpersons only, but the Government can still override them.

Mr Kenny said it is progress, despite the Fianna Fáil leader saying otherwise.
