Man still held in connection with break-in at Shatter home

Gardaí have held a man overnight in relation to a break-in at the home of Justice Minister Alan Shatter on Sunday.

The intruder is believed to have triggered an alarm after gaining access to the rear of Minister Shatter's home at about 11.30pm.

A nearby garda patrol car was quickly on the scene, and the suspect was brought to Blackrock Garda Station, where he remains this morning.

Minister Shatter was not home at the time as he is currently on official state business in Australia and New Zealand.
