A man in his 20s remains in Garda custody following the fatal stabbing of a man in Skerries, Co Dublin yesterday evening.
55-year-old Michael Gannon from Finglas was stabbed after he answered the door while babysitting his grandchildren at his daughter's home.
Gannon from Finglas was found dead at the house in Mourne Park in Skerries at around 6pm yesterday evening.
Gardaí believe he answered the door to his attacker before being stabbed to death.
A man in his late 20s was arrested a short time later nearby. It is understood he was known to the victim.
He is being held at Ballymun Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy is expected to carry out a post mortem examination on the remains this morning, the results of which will determine the direction of the investigation.
