A 42-year-old man is fighting for his life in a hospital in Cork after he was attacked and repeatedly stabbed by a gang of men.
The victim was stabbed in the face, throat, back and legs at Inis Mor Drive, Ballincollig on Thursday night.
He was discovered on the ground in the middle of the housing estate and rushed to Cork University Hospital where his condition is described as critical today.
It is understood the gang fled the scene in a dark-coloured car that was afterwards involved in a collision.
Gardaí believe the man was an innocent passer-by and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
