Man killed in Roscommon crash

A man died this evening following a crash involving two vehicles in Co Roscommon.

Gardaí said the crash occurred at approximately 6.20pm on the Boyle Road in Frenchpark.

The four occupants of a car - two males and two females - were brought to Roscommon Hospital after the car in which they were travelling was involved in a collision with a van.

One of the men, aged in his early 70s, was pronounced dead in the hospital.

The driver of the van was not seriously injured.

The road is currently closed and diversions are in place locally.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or have any information is asked to contact Castlerea Garda station on 094-9621630.
