Man in serious condition after daytime stabbing outside busy shopping centre

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being stabbed outside a busy shopping centre in Kilkenny.

The victim, aged in his late 50s, was out walking his dog when he was stabbed outside the Market Cross Shopping Centre at around 2.30pm yesterday afternoon.

The victim, who is in his 50s, received injuries to his face, upper body and shoulder.

He was rushed by ambulance to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Gardaí arrested a man aged in his 30s in connection with the attack.

He is still being questioned this morning at Kilkenny Garda station.
