Man in serious condition after crash in Galway

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after a crash in Co. Galway in the early hours of this morning.

The 20-year-old was the passenger in car which struck a ditch near Loughrea at about 4.30am.

He is being treated at University Hospital Galway - where his condition is believed to be serious.

Meanwhile, a woman in her 60s has died after being struck by a car in Co Leitrim.

She was seriously injured in the collision - which happened on the outskirts of Mohill Village shortly after 5pm yesterday.

The pedestrian was taken to Sligo General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
