Man in critical condition after shooting incident in Dublin

A man is in a critical condition after sustaining a gun shot wound in Dublin.

The incident happened outside a house at Farrenboley Park in Windy Arbour near Dundrum this afternoon.

A stand-off took place between the man and Gardaí for almost two hours, before ending at 5.20pm.

It is understood the man's head injury was self inflicted and he is being treated at St Vincent’s Hospital.

Update at 8pm

It is being reported that the man's injury may have been self inflicted.
