Man in critical condition after attack in Galway

A 41-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after being assaulted in Galway last night.

The man received serious head injuries in the incident, which happened at Cullairbaun Estate in Athenry at around 11.30pm.

He was taken to University Hospital Galway, where his condition is described as critical.

Gardaí at Galway station are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area between 11pm and midnight last night to contact them.
