Man held in fatal shooting probe in Derry

One woman is believed dead and another seriously injured in a shooting in the North.

Police said they were attending the scene at residential premises at William Court in Bellaghy, near Magherafelt, Co Derry.

A PSNI spokesman said: “At this stage, it is believed that a female has been fatally wounded as a result of the shooting.

“Another female is believed to have been seriously injured.”

One man, thought to be in his 20s, has been arrested.

He has been taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Antrim police station.

The PSNI spokesman added: “There are no further details at this stage.”
