Man held after woman found dead in Carlow

Gardaí in Carlow are investigating the discovery of a woman's body in Leighlinbridge.

The body of the 24-year-old was found in a house on High Street at around 6am this morning. The body remains at the scene, which has been sealed off for a technical examination. The State Pathologist's Office has also been notified.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the discovery.

He was detained in Carlow town and is now being questioned at Carlow garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the High Street area between midnight and 6am this morning to contact them.
