Man held after guns seized in north Co Dublin

Gardaí arrested a man and seized two firearms as part of an ongoing operation targeting the activities of a north Dublin criminal gang.

The man was arrested at about 8pm last night after gardaí from the Organised Crime Unit stopped a male in his 40s who was on foot in the Applewood area of Swords.

He was found to have two firearms and a quantity of ammunition in a bag.

The man is currently detained at Swords Garda Station under of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

The firearms and ammunition have been forwarded for examination.
