Man held after Galway collision where pedestrian suffered serious leg injuries

A man has been arrested in Co Galway after a traffic accident in the early hours of this morning.

The incident happened at 1.40am when a car driven by the man was in collision with a pedestrian in the Knockacarra area of Salthill.

The pedestrian, a man in his 20s, suffered serious leg injuries. He is being treated at University Hospital Galway.

A stretch of the Barna Road was closed overnight but has since re-opened.
