Man due in court in relation to €8m cannabis seizure

A 27-year-old man is due to appear before Gorey District Court in Co Wexford this morning in connection with an €8m drugs seizure.

More than 1,100 kilos of cannabis resin were discovered by customs officers at Rosslare Harbour on Monday.

The drugs were hidden in two wooden pallets marked as footwear which had arrived in a container from Cherbourg in France.

A 20-year-old woman who was also detained in connection with the seizure has since been released without charge.
