Man due in court in connection with burglary gang blitz

A 52-year-old man is due in court in connection with an investigation targeting the distribution of stolen vehicles.

He will appear before a sitting of Tallaght District Court this morning after being arrested on Wednesday, August 31, as part of Operation Thor which was focused on an organised crime gang that was stealing cars in burglaries across Dublin.

Gardaí stopped and searched a car on the N11, Co Wexford, on Wednesday and found vehicle car parts, believed to be stolen, within the car.

In a follow-up operation Gardaí searched premises in the Summerhill area of Co. Meath where they recovered three cars - an Audi A4, an Audi A3 and VW Golf - and a partially dismantled VW car.

Around 4kgs of cannabis herb was also recovered with an estimated street value of €80,000.

During a search of a property in Co Wicklow three cars - an Audi A5, an Audi A1 and a Hyundai Tuscan - were recovered, all believed to be stolen earlier in burglaries.
