Man due in Athlone court in connection with gun and drugs seizure

A man is due to appear in court in Westmeath this morning charged in connection with a drugs and gun seizure.

Gardaí yesterday carried out a planned search of a house in Edgeworthstown, Co Longford, and found a 9 milimetre pistol and a small quantity of drugs.

The drugs are believed to be cocaine, cannabis and crystal meth.

A 28-year-old man was arrested at the scene and held at Longford Garda Station.

He is due to appear before Athlone District Court this morning.
