Man due in Athlone court in connection with firearms offences

A man is due before court in the Athlone today in connection with firearms offences.

The man in his late 30's was arrested in Athlone yesterday on suspicion of possessing firearms and ammunitions in the town on June 25.

He was detained in connection with an ongoing investigation into organised and drug crime in the Athlone area.

The man is due before Athlone District Court 10.30am.
