Man dies in road traffic accident in West Cork

A 63-year-old man has died in a traffic accident in West Cork.

He was knocked down on the Kilcrohane Road near Durrus this morning.

Gardaí say the man was hit by a 4x4 vehicle.

Emergency services treated the man at the scene but he was pronounced dead a short time later.

His body has been removed to Cork University Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The road is currently closed to traffic and local diversions are in place.
