Man dies in light aircraft crash in Mayo

A man has died in a light aircraft crash outside Ballina in County Mayo.

The plane came down just after 6pm in a field between Ballina and Bonniconlon.

Emergency services are at the scene.

The pilot was the only occupant of the aircraft.

An Air Accident Investigation Unit is on its way to the scene.
