Man dies after fall from boat off Mayo

A man has died after he fell overboard from a boat off the coast of Co Mayo.

The accident happened at around 10am today off Achill Island.

The man has been named locally as Cathal McDaid from Culdaff, Co Donegal.

It is the third drowning tragedy in the McDaid family in just three years.

Speaking to Highland Radio, local councillor Bernard McGuinness said his sympathy, and that of the community, went out to the family.
