Man dies after car and truck collide in Co Cork

A man has died after his car was involved in a collision with a truck in Co Cork this morning.

The collision happened on the N72 at Longueville, Eden Hill just outside Mallow shortly before 4.30am.

A man in his early 30s, who was the sole occupant of the car, died when the car he was driving collided with a truck.

He was pronounced dead at scene and his body was taken to Cork University Hospital for a post mortem. No other injuries were reported.

The N72 is closed at Longueville for a forensic investigation and diversions are in place.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information is asked to contact them at Mallow Garda Station on 022 31450, The Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
