Man charged with 1981 schoolgirl murder

A man has been charged with the murder of a schoolgirl in the North almost 30 years ago.

Nine-year-old Jennifer Cardy was abducted in the village of Ballinderry, near Lisburn, Co Down in August 1981 while she was out cycling.

Her body was found by fishermen at a nearby dam almost a week later.

A 62-year old man has been served with the murder charge in England.

He is expected to appear in court at a later date.
