Man charged after gardaí find suspected bomb parts in car

A man in his 20s has been charged in connection with the discovery of a firearm in Co Leitrim on Wednesday.

The weapon was uncovered after a car was stopped at Glenfarne on the N16 Sligo to Blacklion Road.

Suspected component parts for explosives were also found.

The man is due to appear before a special sitting at the Criminal Courts at 11am this morning.

A second man, also in his 20s, arrested in connection with this investigation, has been released without charge.

A file is being prepared for the DPP.
