Man arrested following robbery of Tralee petrol station

A man in his 40s has been arrested in Co Kerry after the robbery of a petrol station in Tralee last night.

At around 8.20pm yesterday evening a man armed with a hatchet entered the petrol station at Rathass.

He threatened staff, stole cash and made off on foot across Rathass Graveyard.

Gardai later arrested a man fitting his description close to Fountain Court in Tralee - and recovered money, a hatchet and clothing after seaching the area.

A man in his 40s is currently detained at Tralee Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
