M8 southbound closed after oil spill

There are severe delays on the M8 after an oil spill caused disruption between Junction 3 at Abbeyleix and Junction 8 at Cashel.

The motorway is currently closed southbound and Gardaí say there are diversions in place.

Emergency services are also dealing with a collision on the same stretch.

Motorists are advised to divert off the motorway onto the old road through Abbeyleix in Durrow.

They can rejoin the motorway on the M8 at Junction 9 Cashel South.
