Lufthansa Technik workers to vote on new proposals

A last-ditch effort is being made today to save jobs at the Lufthansa Technik plant in Dublin.

Workers are due to be balloted on a new set of proposals agreed by trade unions and management during 11 hours of talks over the weekend.

The entire 465-strong workforce at the aircraft engine maintenance plant in Rathcoole are currently on protective notice after rejecting Labour Court recommendations on new work practices.

Lufthansa Technik says a new investment that would guarantee the viability of the plant are dependent on acceptance of the changes.

Trade unions are recommending that workers accept the new proposals agreed over the weekend.
