Lucky escape for elderly motorist

An elderly Cork motorist is recovering after a lucky escape in West Cork today when his car went off a pier and into the sea.

The incident happened at Castletownsend shortly before 12 noon when the man's car went off the pier and plunged into the sea.

Luckily the tide was out at the time and the man, who is in his 70s, was rescued by locals and treated at the scene for shock and minor injuries.
