The head of the Limerick regeneration project has insisted the plug is not being pulled on the ambitious scheme
The comments by Brendan Kenny come despite the Government admitting over the weekend that it cannot deliver the €1.7bn it promised in funding.
Defence Minister and Limerick TD Willie O'Dea said that the Government can only invest €25m annually in the scheme.
However Mr Kenny is optimistic that more funds could be in the pipeline.
"The €25m that we have got, which is an increase on 2009, will allow the same kind of activities that were going on in the past couple of years to continue," he said.
"We certainly need more money to kick-start the project and we are getting indications from the Department that there may well be something there later on in the year."
