Library staff to be balloted for action in 'staffless' row

Library staff across the country are to be balloted for industrial action.

The trade union Impact has raised concerns that the introduction of 'staffless' library services could lead to job losses.

It is understood management plan to roll out the initiative on a pilot basis at 23 locations during evenings and weekends.

The union says its a sinister plan to cut costs and services under the guise of extending opening hours.
