Less cars being damaged by potholes, says survey

An online survey carried out by the AA shows that damage to cars as a result of potholes are down on last year.

The poll of more than 20,000 people shows that 11% said that they have sustained damage to their vehicle since the start of the year having hit a pothole.

However, this is compared to a figure of 16% during the same period last year.

AA Ireland sais that the drop in figures is due to a mild winter.

During the "big freeze" of 2010, roads across the country were badly damaged by the icy conditions.
