Lenihan: We did not go against advice on bank guarantee

The Minister for Finance has again rejected suggestions that the Government went against a recommendation over the blanket guarantee to the country's banks.

Documents released on Friday showed financial advisors had warned the Government that the guarantee could cost up to €500bn.

However speaking on the 'Sam Smyth on Sunday' show on Today FM, the Minister refuted any suggestion grave errors had been made.

Brian Lenihan also spoke about his health - six months after being diagnosed with a serious illness.

He said there has been no change in his health that affects his ability to do his job and that he is grateful for the goodwill of the Irish people in the last few months.
