Lenihan: Economy to contract by 8%

Finance Minister Brian Lenihan has said that he now expects the Irish economy to contract by 8% this year.

Minister Lenihan also predicted that consumer prices would fall by 4% in 2009.

He also said that the Government aims to increase the tax take by €1.7bn in 2010, and by an additional €1.5bn in 2011.
