Latest: Television appeal launched to help find missing Irish man in Vienna

Update 5.50pm: A television appeal is being screened in Vienna - to try and help trace a young Meath man, missing since yesterday.

Ross Hanlon (21) from Athboy was last seen around 2am on Friday morning.

He had travelled to the Austrian capital on a trip with some college friends, but became separated from the group during a night out.

"At the moment, the police started an investigation because the two friends went to the police when their friend didn't come home so they reported him missing," said Katharina Weinmann who is an editor with Austrian TV Station O.R.F.

"They are hoping that our reports tonight on our television station will help to find any clues about what is going on here in Vienna with this missing person."

Meanwhile, members of the man's family are now travelling to the Austrian capital to join the search.
