LATEST: Body found in search for bachelor farmer

Update: 3.05pm A body has been found during the search for a missing man in Co Clare.

The body of a man was recovered from flooded lands at around 2.20pm by members of Clare Civil Defence.

The body has been removed to University Hospital Limerick where a postmortem examination will be carried out.

Gardaí say they are not treating the death as suspicious.

Earlier: A massive search is underway in Co Clare for a man not seen since Wednesday.

65-year-old Michael Vaughan has been missing from his home at Moyree near Ruan.

The bachelor farmer was last seen in Ennis at lunchtime on Wednesday and was reported missing yesterday.

Gardaí and members of Clare Civil Defence have been joined by the Shannon based Irish Coast Guard search and rescue helicopter.

Volunteers from the Doolin unit of the Irish Coast Guard have also travelled to the area while dozens of locals have been searching fields and country roads.

Divers are also search overflown rivers and flooded fields in the locality.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone who may have seen Mr Vaughan in recent days to contract them on 065 6848100.
