Large search operation for missing soldier Ben Garrett taking place in Galway

A large search operation for a missing man is getting underway in Galway at 11am.

Ben Garrett from Mayo was last seen in the Eglington Street area of Galway City in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The 21-year-old is a soldier with the Irish Defence Forces.

Gardaí and members of the defence forces are set to join members of the 21-year-old's friends and family in a number search operations today.

He is described as being approximately 6 ft in height with short brown hair and of athletic build.

Anyone who can help in finding Ben is asked to contact Galway Garda station on 091-538000.
