Knife murders for eight months of 2014 exceed number for all of last year

There have been more knife murders in the first eight months of this year than in all of last year.

Knives were blamed for 13 murders up to the end of August - that figure was only six during the same time last year.

Overall, 22 murders have taken place in the Dublin region in the first eight months of 2014.
