Kevin Sinnott’s funeral takes place in Cork

The funeral is taking place in Co Cork today of former MEP Kathy Sinnott's son Kevin, who died in a tragic drowning accident last week.

The 22-year-old philosophy student went missing while swimming in a lake in Dawsonville, Georgia near the college he was attending.

His body was pulled from the water after a massive search operation.

Kathy and two of her sons flew over to the US and brought his remains home at the weekend.

Friends and family have gathered at Our Lady and St John's Church in Carrigaline to say their last goodbyes to the popular student.
