Irishman on Interpol wanted list

Interpol is today appealing for help in finding 26 fugitives in a global manhunt, including an Irishman.

John 'Fozzy' Griffin (aged 43) is wanted by gardaí in connection with the murder of 23-year-old Emer O'Loughlin whose body was found in a burned-out caravan in Galway in April 7, 2005.

Police believe he may now be living in the UK

The main suspect was seen taking the ferry to Inis Oirr and then on to Inis Mor on April 18 of the same year.

He disappeared on Inis Mor and was not seen taking the ferry back from the island.

His clothes were found a few days later at the edge of a cliff on the island and gardaí could never rule out the possibility that he arranged his escape on a small boat with an outboard engine or even arranged for someone to collect him.

O'Loughlin's body was exhumed in May of this year and after further tests, a murder investigation was launched, more than five years after the young artist's death.
