HSE pledges to rectify HIQA concerns about Cork cancer centre

The HSE has said that it is working to rectify issues raised by HIQA over a new centre of excellence for breast cancer care in Cork.

A report from the health watchdog found the unit at CUH was not seeing women who may have the disease soon enough.

It also criticised management and governance of the unit, which replaced two other cancer centres in Cork and Kerry.

A spokesperson for the HSE said it had already put an action plan in place before HIQA published its findings yesterday.
