Grandfather from Monaghan picks up €250k in Lotto

A retired grandfather from Monaghan says it hasn’t sunk in that he has won €250,000 playing Lotto.

58-year-old Tommy Kieran from Carrickmacross, who has six children and four grandchildren, picked up his cheque today at a champagne reception at Lotto Headquarters in Dublin.

"I'm still overwhelmed. I don't realise it's happened - by the time I settle down and realise it's in the bank and it's there and I can spend it, I'll see what I'm going to do."

Mr Kieran played the same numbers for the past 25 years and said it’s the first time he’s won anything.
