Gormley to amend Bill to appease FF TDs

The Environment Minister John Gormley has announced plans to amend the Dog Breeding Bill to satisfy the concerns of rural Fianna Fáil TDs.

A number of back-benchers have been threatening to vote against the legislation claiming that it will impose undue restrictions on the greyhound and hunting sector.

John Gormley said seperate legislation will now be drawn up by the Minister for Agriculture to deal with the welfare of greyhounds.

He also announced plans to amend the breeding bill to address concerns about the micro-chipping of hunting dogs.
