Mick Lally's on-screen wife and friend Mary McEvoy has paid tribute to the deceased actor who died after a short illness today.

Lally who played Miley in the long running Irish soap 'Glenroe' had recently reunited with co-star Mary McEvoy for a new play called 'The Matchmaker'.

McEvoy has today paid tribute her friend and co-star.

"Mick and I loved each other and we got on really well," she said.

The actress said that they could go long periods not seeing each other, but she is still finding it hard to accept that Lally has passed away.

“I still have something in the back of my head that I’m going to see him next week because we were supposed to be doing 'The Matchmaker'," she said.
