Gilmore calls on FF backbenchers to dissolve Government

Labour Party leader Eamon Gilmore has today urged Fianna Fáil backbenchers who are unhappy with the controversy over the Taoiseach's radio interview to ask Brian Cowen to dissolve the Government.

Mr Gilmore said that the debacle has increased the likelihood of an early General Election.

He also says the negative publicity generated internationally has contributed to market uncertainty - which today saw Irish borrowing costs rise above 6%.
