Gardaí wait to interview shooting victim

Gardaí in Dublin are planning to interview the victim of yesterday’s shooting in Coolock as soon as doctors give them the all-clear.

The 22-year-old man was rushed to hospital after he was gunned down in a residential area.

The shooting happened just before 7pm yesterday evening in Ferrycarrig Park housing estate.

It is believed the man was the victim of a drive-by shooting and the scene remains sealed off as crime scene experts examine the area.

Gardaí have also begun knocking on doors to ask neighbours if they saw or heard anything that may help in their investigation.

The scene of the shooting is just a short walk from the local school and shop and would have been busy at that time according to locals.

The victim is believe to live very close to where he was gunned down. He is being treated for gunshot wounds to the arm and leg at Beaumont Hospital.

His injuries are described as non-life threatening and detectives are hoping to interview him as soon as he is well enough to answer questions.
