Gardaí to proceed with strike action ballot

The Garda Representative Association is proceeding with its ballot for strike action.

A two-day meeting of the Central Executive Committee has decided to proceed with the ballot, with the results expected in the new year.

The GRA represents almost 12,000 rank and file gardaí.

The Garda Commissioner had expressed his grave concerns at the move to the GRA as gardaí are legally barred from withdrawing their labour.
