Gardaí investigate illegal dump in Monaghan

An investigation is continuing into the discovery of an illegal dump in Co Monaghan.

Gardaí also uncovered an illegal diesel-laundering plant at the site near Castleblayney yesterday.

A search led by gardaí was carried out yesterday morning at the illegal operation at Reban, in Shantonagh, near Castleblayney.

Gardaí were accompanied by customs officials and officers from the Environmental Protection Agency.

The illegal dump and diesel-laundering plant were sealed off and a forensic technical examination was carried out.

No arrests have been made and gardaí say the operation is on-going.
