Gardaí investigate death of man at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital

A man who has been in hospital since an assault five months ago has died.

36-year-old Seamus Bell from Carrickmacross in Monaghan was the victim of an assault at Main Street in January of this year.

He was pronounced dead at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital yesterday evening.

A post mortem examination will be carried out this afternoon.

A 34-year-old man, arrested in January and charged with a non fatal offence is currently in custody in Cloverhill Prison and is due to appear in court on the 21st June.
