Gardaí investigate after shots are fired during armed robbery

An investigation is underway after a number of shots were fired during an armed robbery at a post office in Blackrock in Co Dublin this afternoon.

The incident happened at 2.30pm at Woodbine Park when a masked man entered the premises.

No customers were in the post office at the time and the men fled on foot empty handed.

Gardaí have said he was challenged by a male passerby who received minor injuries, but the suspect got away.

A handgun was recovered during the struggle.
